Just in time for the holidays, La MaMa presents Downtown’s favorite curator Nicky Paraiso as the master of ceremonies for the ultimate holiday cabaret, Christmas in Nickyland at The Club at La MaMa (74a East 4th Street, 3rd fl.), for two performances only – Saturday, December 19th at 10:00PM and Sunday, December 20th at 6:00PM. Each night there will be a holy host of characters singing, dancing, gender-bending, and merry making in the intimate 99-seat cabaret space, all to get you into the East Village spirit of the season.

(Sat 12/19 only), Margaret Fulham, Mike Iveson Jr. (Sun 12/20 only), Jon Kinzel w/ Simon Courchel (Sun 12/20 only), Carol Lipnik w/ Matt Kanelos (Sat Dec 19th only), Heather Litteer, Susan Murphy, Edgar Oliver, Ombro de Oro (Sun 12/20 only), George Emilio Sanchez, Justin Sayre (Sat 12/19 only), Peggy Shaw, Amy Rox Surratt, Poorna Swami, Pablo Vela (Sun 12/20 only), with Pearse Redmond (Guest MC), and special guest artists TBA!

Nicky Paraiso is currently Director of Programming at The Club at La MaMa Experimental Theatre, and is the Festival Curator of La MaMa Moves!, La MaMa’s annual spring contemporary dance festival. He has been a prolific actor at La MaMa, and the New York downtown theater and performance scene, since 1979. Paraiso’s awards include a 1987 BESSIE Award for Performance, a 2004 Spencer Cherashore Fund grant for mid-career actors, a 2005 NY Innovative Theater Award, and a 2012 BAX Arts & Artists in Progress Arts Management Award. Paraiso has been a member of Meredith Monk/The House and Vocal Ensemble (1981-1990), touring extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. Nicky’s critically acclaimed one-man shows Asian Boys, Houses and Jewels and House/Boy have been presented at La MaMa, Dixon Place, PS122, Dance Theater Workshop, and on tour.
