Set in a mythical Chinese kingdom, THE REMARKABLE JOURNEY OF PRINCE JEN is a family-friendly adventure tale about the transformative powers of friendship, courage and love. When his father’s kingdom is threatened, Prince Jen embarks on a quest to seek the aid of a powerful Emperor, carrying with him five seemingly ordinary gifts. But sometimes that which appears ordinary can be truly remarkable. The young Prince soon discovers that the objects hold magical powers, and with the help of some newfound friends learns that he, too, is capable of more than anyone imagined.
Author/lyricist Lezlie Wade began working with composer Daniel Green at the renowned BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. Initially they collaborated on a ten-minute piece based on the Prince Jen story and ultimately created this full length musical, which has been presented at ASCAP and as part of the Bound for Broadway concert series at NYC’s Kaufman Music Center.
The industry readings of THE REMARKABLE JOURNEY OF PRINCE JEN are being presented by Somerled Arts. For more information, visit www.SomerledArts.org.
